Aparjods has been established as an excellent place for both recreation and business. In 2000 it won the first award in the competition "Wooden Buildings of Latvia", which was organized by the Cultural Heritage Department of the European Council. Sigulda and its magnificent surroundings offer a wide range of open air activities from a romantic walk in the Gauja National Park either in spring when everything is in bloom and blossom and just as romantic Indian summer to all kinds of outdoor sports all year round. In Sigulda you may go horse riding, enjoy an airplane flight, go boating along the Gauja river or observe the surroundings from the aerial tramway, hire tourist requisites, play tennis or minigolf, try free flight system "Aerodium", drive down a toboggan on small rubber wheels, a tourist bob "Vuchko" or summer bobsleigh along Sigulda slope or bobsleigh track. In winter snow-capped Sigulda hills are an ideal place for skiing.
